CUET English Exam Review

The English Exam conducted at CUET  was a comprehensive assessment to evaluate the language proficiency and comprehension skills of the participants. The exam on  Day II focused on various aspects of English language usage and grammar. In this article, we have discussed in detail about the CUET English Exam Analysis.

On Day II of the English Exam, the participants encountered a different range of question types. The reading comprehension section consisted of two unseen passages, along with an unseen poem, which collectively accounted for 15 questions. These questions tested the candidate’s ability to understand the given texts, gather information, and analyze the given text.

CUET English Exam Analysis

The grammar section of the exam covered a wide range of topics. The participants faced para jumbles, where they were required to arrange jumbled sentences in order, accounting for around four questions. There were two questions related to common phrases from other languages, testing the candidates’ knowledge of idiomatic expressions.

Antonyms and synonyms were tested in a match-the-following format, for the participants to correctly pair words with their respective opposites or similar meanings. The exam also included questions on direct and indirect speech, requiring the candidates to convert sentences from one form to another accurately. Sentence conversion and sentence correction questions assessed the participants’ understanding of grammatical rules and their ability to apply them effectively.

The exam also featured questions on active and passive voice, with approximately three to four questions accounting to this topic. These questions evaluated the candidates’ ability in transforming sentences between active and passive forms, along with identifying the subject-object relationships within a given sentence.

A section on letter writing was presented in the form of a closed passage, where candidates were required to answer four questions based on the given letter. This section tested their ability to understand the content and context of a letter and respond appropriately.

 The overall level of the CUET English Exam on Day II can be considered a medium. The exam included a variety of question types, which tested participants’ comprehension skills, grammar knowledge, and ability to apply language rules effectively.
