Difference Between CUCET and CUET 2023

Many students are in dilemma about the Difference between CUCET and CUET, especially candidates seeking admission into central universities for UG courses. Both CUCET and CUET are national entrance exams conducted for candidates aspiring to take admissions in UG courses in central universities. CUCET and CUET both are entrance exams for central universities, private universities, deemed universities and state universities. 

CUCET and CUET both exams are conducted once a year with the purpose of creating a centralized channel for offering admission to Universities. When NTA took over as the conducting body from the University of Rajasthan in 2021, they changed the name of the exam from CUCET to CUET. So basically, CUET was earlier known as CUCET.

What is CUCET?

 Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) was introduced in 2010. The CUCET was conducted by the Central University of Rajasthan for candidates seeking admission into central universities for various undergraduate courses. CUCET was administered by the Central University of Rajasthan from its inception in 2010 to 2020. There were 41 participating universities that offered admissions to eligible students based on their performance in the CUCET Exams. 

What is CUET?

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is the new version of CUCET. CUET was introduced in the year 2022. The National Testing Agency conducts the CUET Exam in 2022. There are 44 central universities and 250 total participating universities all over India that are part of the CUET exam.

Difference between CUCET and CUET

There is a slight difference between CUCET and CUET eligibility criteria and exam patterns.  

Eligibility Criteria

According to CUCET eligibility criteria, candidates of the general category must score at least 50% marks in class 12. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories should have a minimum of 45%marks in class 12. Candidates must have studied subjects depending on the course they have applied for.

In CUET eligibility criteria vary from university to university and course to course but the minimum qualification required to appear for CUET UG is class 12.

 The number of participating universities has also gone up which is great news for students, as the Common University Entrance Test widens their opportunity and scope of applying for more than 250 universities in a single attempt.
