There are so many entrance exams; is it possible that these can be merged and converted into one? Let’s find that out. With the arrival of CUET, candidates often tend to question whether some of the renowned exams, such as NEET and JEE, can be merged into CUET. In a recent interview, the UGC (University Grants Commission) Chairman, M Jagadesh Kumar, himself said that the merger is a situation that can be thought upon, but, for a fact, there is no immediate planning in doing so, and if the merger happens, then it will be announced at least two years before its implementation, as it will give students time to prepare accordingly.
So, as of now, there is no immediate planning or action that is to be taken regarding the merger, which simply means that we have no clear information about whether it will happen or not. It is possible to say that it might take a lot of time. There are a lot of factors that are to be considered for the same, such as improvising the entrance exam in such a way that it’ll be fair and accurate for both NEET and JEE candidates because both streams are quite different from one another.
To make such a huge change happen, it is necessary to look at some important points regarding the same. Here’s a list of a few necessary points that should be kept in mind:
- The admissions process would be simplified as one single exam would give access to a larger number of universities.
- As only one exam will take place, it will relieve the academic pressure of preparing for multiple exams all at once.
- It would be difficult to set or improvise an exam in such a way that it fits all the criteria for both NEET and JEE candidates.
- It may or may not lead to a decline in the quality of the admission process because there is a high possibility that the universities may get lenient in the admission process.
At last, we can say that the idea of merging NEET and JEE into CUET is a crucial one that needs to be studied thoroughly before making any decision. It has certain pros and cons that need to be looked upon and considered carefully as well.
