What is the question paper pattern of CUET?

CUET, or the Common University Entrance Test, is a national-level entrance exam that is conducted across the country for admission to undergraduate courses in 2024 and is used as admission for various central universities across the country. The exam pattern is totally different from the 12th-grade exam pattern, so it is important to stay updated with the exam pattern for CUET.

It is an online and MCQ-based exam with a moderate difficulty level, which is divided into four sections, and those are as follows:

CUET exam pattern for undergraduate courses (UG)

Section IA (Language Test): This section consists of questions based on comprehension, grammar, authors, etc., and candidates can choose among 13 languages.

Number of Questions: 40 out of 50 have to be attempted

Time Given: 45 minutes

English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Tamil, Urdu, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi and Odia.

Section IB (Language Test): This section is the second part of the language test and consists of questions based on comprehension, grammar, authors, etc., and candidates can choose any language among 20 additional languages.

German, French, Chinese, Arabic, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Nepali, Dogri, Bodo, Kashmiri, Tibetan, Konkani, Manipuri, Maithili, Santhali and Sindhi.

Section II (Domain Subjects): This section consists of 12th grade NCERT-based questions, and candidates can choose upto six subjects from the list of 27 subjects, according to their preference.

Number of Questions: 40 out of 50 have to be attempted

Time Given: 45 minutes or 60 Minutes

Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Geography, History, Home Science, Legal Studies, Maths, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Engineer Graphics, Knowledge & Tradition – Practices in India, Teaching Aptitude, Mass Media, Entrepreneurship and Agriculture. 

Section III (General Ability Test) – This section consists of questions based on general knowledge, current affairs, logical reasoning, numerical ability, general mental ability, and so on, for which 60 minutes are given.

Number of Questions: 50 out of 60 have to be attempted

Time Given: 60 minutes
